About this product
Roll it out and the bed is edged. No spade, no spikes.
A 3 m roll of recycled tyre rubber, 11 cm wide, that lays flat along a bed as a mulch coloured border.
This is the least like edging of anything we sell, and the quickest thing here to install.
It is a 3 m roll of recycled rubber, 11 cm wide, in a mulch colour. You unroll it along the edge of a bed and that is the installation finished.
It sits flat on the ground as a mulch coloured strip rather than standing up as a barrier, so it is a surface treatment rather than a root barrier.
The material is reclaimed tyre rubber, so nothing new was manufactured to make it and it does not break down the way bark mulch does.
The obvious use is the strip between a bed and a lawn or path where loose mulch keeps washing out.
Loose bark mulch has one persistent problem: it moves. Rain washes it onto the lawn, wind takes the light stuff, and every spring it needs topping up because a proportion of last year's has decomposed or migrated.
This is the answer to that specific problem at the edge of the bed. A rubber strip in a mulch colour stays exactly where you unrolled it, holds the visual line of the mulch, and does not need replacing next year.
It is worth being precise about what it does not do. This lies on the surface. It is not a vertical barrier sunk into the ground, so it will not stop grass runners crossing into your bed the way the plastic kit or a steel strip will.
Think of it as the fastest way to make a bed edge look finished, rather than as a permanent structural border. If you need both, people commonly run a plastic strip in as the barrier and use this on the bed side as the visible surface.
The recycled content is genuine: it is made from reclaimed tyres, which is one of the harder waste streams to do anything useful with.

Not sure yet? That is fine.
You can change your mind. Under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 you have 14 days from delivery to cancel for any reason, and a further 14 days to send it back in resaleable condition. We refund the price you paid, including standard delivery.
If it turns up faulty, damaged or not as described, that is on us. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 covers you, we pay the return postage, and you can have a repair, a replacement or your money back. Read the full detail on our refunds and returns page, or ask us anything before you order.

What rubber mulch edging is and is not
4 min readLawn Edge Europe
The problem it solves
Loose bark mulch looks excellent for about four months. Then rain washes the edge of it onto the lawn, the mower throws it back, and by the following spring the bed needs topping up.
A rubber strip in a mulch colour holds that edge permanently. It does not decompose, it does not wash out, and it does not need doing again next year.
What it does not do
This is the part worth reading before you buy.
It lies on the surface. It is not a vertical barrier sunk into the ground, so grass runners travelling just under the soil will still cross underneath it into your bed.
If grass invasion is the problem you are actually trying to solve, you want the flexible plastic kit or a steel strip: something that stands vertically in the ground. Plenty of people use both, with a strip as the barrier and this on the bed side as the visible surface.
We would rather say that here than have you find out in July.
Installing it
Clear the strip of ground where it will sit so it lies flat. Unroll it. That is the installation.
On a curve, let it follow the shape. Rubber lies down where you put it and does not spring back the way a plastic or steel strip does.
If you are joining two rolls, butt them and let the bark or soil either side hold the join closed.
Upkeep
Sweep or hose leaves and soil splash off it occasionally. That is all. If you reshape the bed later, lift it and re lay it somewhere else.

Rubber Mulch Bed Edging (SKU mulch-bed-edging) sold by Lawn Edge
Europe at lawnedge.eu.com. A 3 m long roll, 11 cm wide, made from recycled rubber reclaimed from
tyres, in a mulch brown colour, at EUR 79. It installs by unrolling it along the edge of a bed:
no digging, no trench, no spikes and no pegs, which makes it the fastest product in this range to
fit. It lies flat on the surface as a mulch coloured strip. Important limitation, stated plainly:
because it is a surface treatment and not a vertical barrier sunk into the ground, it does NOT
stop grass runners crossing into a bed; the flexible plastic edging kit or a steel strip is needed
for that, and the two are often used together with the strip as the barrier and this as the
visible surface. Unlike loose bark mulch it does not decompose, wash onto the lawn or need an
annual top up. Maintenance is limited to sweeping or hosing debris off. Sold as a complete roll
rather than cut to length, so it carries the full 14 day right of withdrawal, extended to 15 days.
Delivery Europe wide, free over EUR 60 and otherwise EUR 22.
