About Lawn Edge Europe

Every edging material in one place, plus the tools to fit it.

Most garden shops treat edging as an afterthought: one plastic roll next to the hose fittings. We treat it as the whole shop. Plastic kit, corrugated metal, black steel, stainless steel and corten, plus per piece bed borders, a recycled rubber mulch border, and the tools that cut and finish the line.

What we do

We sell edging online direct across Europe. You measure the run, choose the material that suits the job, and we send it. The per metre ranges are cut to the length you order, so a seven metre bed costs seven metres and not a ten metre kit with three metres left over.

We would rather answer a question than take a wrong order. If you are not sure whether your job wants flexible plastic or steel, email us before you buy.

How we work

There is no showroom and no installation service. This is a DIY shop: everything we sell is meant to be fitted by the person who bought it, with ordinary garden tools. That is also why the tools sit alongside the edging rather than in a separate catalogue.

Prices are in euro and include the price you pay at checkout. Delivery is free across Europe on orders of €60 or more, and otherwise a flat €22.

Choosing the right edging

Four things decide it, and none of them are complicated.

Material

Flexible recycled plastic is the budget answer and bends around curves by hand. Corrugated metal gives a ribbed steel profile with hemmed edges. Black steel and stainless steel give a thin, clean, modern line. Corten weathers to a rust coloured finish that suits planting and architectural schemes.

Height and depth

The taller the face, the better it holds mulch, gravel and soil back. A 5 cm face keeps grass out of a bed. A 10 cm or 20 cm face is what you want when there is a level change or a deep mulch layer to contain.

How easy it is to fit

Plastic kit and pegs go in with a rubber mallet and no trench. Steel edging wants a spade line cut first. If you are doing a long run on your own, that difference matters more than the price.

What it has to survive

All of it lives outside all year. Plastic will not rust and does not mind damp. Stainless steel stays bright. Corten is meant to rust on the surface and then stop, which is the finish people buy it for.

What edging actually does

It keeps grass where it belongs

The main job. A physical barrier stops grass runners creeping into beds and stops mulch and soil washing out onto the lawn in heavy rain.

It makes mowing quicker

A defined line is a line you can mow to. Less strimming, less hand trimming, less kneeling down to cut back an edge that has gone shapeless.

It holds a shape

Beds, paths, gravel areas and tree circles keep the outline you gave them instead of softening year on year.

It finishes the garden

The reason a professionally landscaped garden looks different is usually not the planting. It is that every edge is deliberate.

Looking after it

Keep soil and overgrowth off the top of the edging so the line stays visible. Check the pegs after the first winter and tap back anything the frost has lifted. Replace damaged sections rather than leaving a gap, because a break in the line is where grass gets back in.
